Hockey Playoffs: Stanley Cup (NHL), Walter Cup (PWHL)

Ok folks we’re in the second round now and this is where it really starts to get interesting.

We’ve got two and a half Canadian teams (including Toronto). Adieu Sens and Habs :waving_hand:

I’ve got a friendly wager going with a friend in Dallas; we’ll see him wearing a Jets jersey when they win :star_struck:

Wow…. How about the game last night. My husband is friends with the Jets coach, as he lives part time in this area. We will be cheering from South Carolina.

Why you gotta mention them though? Don’t invoke the devil!

I’m rooting to Winnipeg :victory_hand:

What a game last night!

After the kids went to bed I looked at the score online and it was 3-1 with a couple of minutes left in the third and I thought it was over.

I checked again after about 10 mins online and I saw 3-3. I was so shocked. Then I was like I need to watch this. Turned on the tv and watched the first OT. Then I went to bed, but what a finish!

I’m a Leafs fan, glad to see them make it to the second round.

Toronto is not the devil. The devil has the power to make your dreams come true.

:sob: just genius Matt…

If it can’t be Toronto, it better be one of the remaining Canadian teams.

I’m TIRED of these southern US teams being competitive, especially the southeast teams. You’re not supposed to exist, let alone be any good!

On this we agree :innocent:

One thing I’m darkly loving about the playoff bracket as it is now, is the prospect of Gary Bettman’s worst nightmare: an all-Canadian Stanley Cup Final :smiling_face_with_horns:

Tying the game with 1.6 seconds left, then winning game 7 in double overtime - what a story. Wow :star_struck:

There’s brilliant video here of the tying goal, and the winning goal. Talk about a comeback :innocent:

It was amazing. The Blues were only 1.6 seconds away from winning that series.

I knew when it went to OT that the Jets had way too much momentum to not win.

Now they face Dallas. Should be a good series.

Florida cannot win.

Go Leafs Go.

There, I can swallow my pride pretty well.

Go Panthers! I live in Tampa but have ESPN plus and your local team is blacked out. Go figure you become a fan of the Lightning’s rival.

From your lips to hockey god’s ears.

TML vs EDM/WPG cup final, please.

Edmonton looks really good. May be the team to beat. I love watching games on tv there, those fans look nuts. I know hockey in Canada is a different beast, but Edmonton takes it to a new level. At least what I see on TV.

I’d like to think we all have our manifestation of “level” in the belly of the beast. In Montreal, we bring out the riot cops.

It is true. Montreal is the place to be, to be a hockey fan :innocent:

Re: the discussion above and the playoffs in general thus far:

Not thrilled about Toronto’s performance the last two games. It’s like watching a balloon pop. I hope they muster more coordinated playing and especially a more coordinated offence. The more they can keep it up there, the less it’s back in the Leafs zone.

In order of preference now that Ottawa and Montreal are out, I am cheering for Edmonton, then Winnipeg, then Toronto (grudgingly), then I stop caring.

What the hell is going on in Jets-Stars series? Talk about lopsided scoring. What do you guys think? To me this feels like spits and spurts of genius, back and forth, and it’s exciting but I truly don’t know what’s going to happen.

Oilers are my guys now. I like them as players and I also like their attitude and their leadership. Connor McDavid is a class act. I want him and his team to win. I’m glad to see they’re near closing out this series. Let’s make it happen guys :ok_hand:

There’s still a fair chance of another Oilers-Panthers final :star_struck:

Panthers are so good at getting under everyone’s skin. Matthew tkachuk and Marchand are essentially the same person, the guy you want to fight even when they’re on the team you’re rooting for. Ultimate gnats. That Bennett goal was nasty Sunday night. Gamer.

Maybe it’s the extra time to defrost between games:winking_face_with_tongue::winking_face_with_tongue:

Last two Leafs games have been super frustrating.

My beloved Celtics have already pooped the bed in the NBA playoffs, capped off by a likely yearlong minimum injury sustained by our best player last night. I can’t have the Leafs doing it to me yet again in hockey. And yet again vs a silly Floridian team. Tampa used to be the thorn in our side, now it’s the Panthers. I’m not sure who annoys me more.

I used to have a little more tolerance for the Panthers when they had their original logo/original jerseys, but they dropped those a decade ago :frowning:

That silly Florida team has two more Stanley Cup appearances in the past two years than Toronto has had in over 55 years. And Toronto’s best player is from San Francisco. Just saying.
