How did the expression, on/off the wagon start (wrong answers only)

I have heard the story of the water wagon. I want to hear some wrong answers. What ridiculous thing have you heard? Make something new up.

On February 21 1804, Richard Trevithick was finally able to demonstrate his invention. The first steam engine!
To celebrate his demonstration he celebrated with Champaign. Witnesses say he drank a bit too much.
Richard chose to conduct the train himself, unaware that drinking and conducting might not be all that smart.
Sadly he fell of the engine’s wagon. He was severely injured. Due to the high speed of the train, an astonishing 3mph, he broke his small toe. That day he decided that no one was ever allowed to get on the wagon under the influence.
In 1833, he sadly passed away, his small toe still curved at a 45 degree angel.
