I’m currently at 970 days since I last took a drink and I’m not sure if I should celebrate 1000 days or how?
I know when the days comes I will effectively reset the counter to zero and start again. Can’t allow myself that vulnerability or complacency. Any ideas how to celebrate?
It’s funny isn’t it how we put so much emphasis on certain accumulations of time.
Personally I would say that is an awesome number and if you think so too, you should do something to treat yourself, whatever that looks like!
For 1000 days I’d buy those spendy midbass’ I have my eyes on, then go about fabricating pods to hold them. Doing hobby work is something I truly enjoy.
What do you do that you enjoy? Do it on a grander scale. You collect shoes, gets them Jordans or Vera Wang’s type of thing.
Thats how I’d do it.
Congrats on almost hitting 1000 days, no easy feat for an addict/alcoholic.
Wow!! What a major accomplishment. I hope you are feeling solid and proud!!
Lots of ways to celebrate, a weekend away to someplace relaxing or full of activities based on what you like. Or a great staycation at home with friends, family and maybe an outdoor movie in your backyard…if you can figure out how to do that! A nice dinner out or in of you are a foodie. An invigorating hike to a beautiful vista. A trip to the beach is a favorite of mine. A special comforting throw or blanket or pair of toasty socks or a fancy hat. Some ice cream and cake. A bicycle ride. Treat yourself to a movie once a week for a month. Start a new hobby. A warm soak with a good book. A new plant for house or garden. A special piece of jewlery.
Super huge congrats!!!
Instant or real taters?
Instant, surely. Can you imagine how long it would take to mash that many potatoes!
Autumn would a find a way
That was the main reason I loved this post
Definitely cake or pie.!
Think about the amount of money you’ve saved since you stopped purchasing alcohol…
Now use that money to do something a little grand for yourself Perhaps a full spa day for yourself or do something for the supporters you’ve had throughout your sobriety journey. I know that I would probably host a small fancy dinner for my family and the friends that were there for me during the time I was going to rehab or take them out somewhere, that’s what I plan for my 1 year next year
just a small “Thank you” to the people that have been supporting me. And definitely get yourself a triple chocolate milkshake or some other sinful drink that’s non alcoholic to indulge
Also, I love how you’re keeping yourself alert in any way that you can and not allowing yourself to become complacent
Many thanks. 1000 days will be massive for me. Been trying for last 15 years to get this far, so I know what lies on the other side. This time around I’ve been writing my thoughts in a journal and trying to keep the pen moving as long as possible. I make myself laugh when I read it back because of the ridiculous things I write down. But it all helps. I suppose I cling on to something and get obsessed with something, but it’s better than falling down a hole.
