I just got out of rehab and into sober living but need a sponsor. I went to rehab for the first time last year and never got a sponsor. This time around I plan to go through the steps but how do I go about picking who I want to sponsor me?

Welcome to the forum! Congratulations on completing rehab 
Choosing a sponsor is pretty easy to do. U can find one at a 12 step mtg like AA or NA or CA etc. What i did to choose a sponsor was to listen closely in the mtgs when others were sharing. I found a woman with long term sobriety who spoke about recovery well and lived recovery well. From there i asked her to be my sponsor. She agreed and we started going thru the Big Book together. Since ur a man its recommended to seek out another man to be ur sponsor.
Sometimes a sponsor doesnt always work out. I went thru a few myself as we just didnt click. But my last sponsor was a wonderful woman who taught me soooo much about recovery.

ive been sponsoring for over 36 years now if you go to a meeting and you hear someone you like who has experience in recovery you can ask if they could sponsor you if they cant there are plenty of opportunities at other meetings rem men for men woman for woman wish you well

Yes, I attend a meeting everyday since it’s part of my sober living conditions. I guess it seems like there is a lil trial and error involved so I plan on getting one at tonight’s meeting and seeing how it goes. Thank you very much for ur response!
