How do you stay sober when you have to be alone

I can’t drive and my town is far for me to travel to meetings. I don’t know anyone to hitch a ride and it’s really affected my continued sobriety. I’m on day three and just trying to figure out some things to try. Any suggestions

Hi & welcome Michelle. Online meetings, painting, reading, walks, anything outdoors is kick ass (at least I think).
We don’t have to or need to drink anymore.

Hi, I also live alone and I watch a lot of TV, Netflix etc. The one hobby that I picked up is diamond painting, you stick tiny stones to a sticky board, it was something I could actually do. It was a suggestion from someone here. I’ve made a few pictures that I framed and I’m now working on a DP coaster set. There’s also:
Reading
Video Games
Cooking
Or Eating, I treated myself often.
Puzzles or Puzzle books
Plants, I only had 2 or 3, but after I stopped drinking, I got into them, I usually pick them up on sale when I food shop. Also picked up several succulents. And I bought a couple books on Amazon to help keep them alive.
Clean or rearrange a room.

Basically anything that keeps you busy, the first week is the hardest, but it does get easier. I wish you the best!

The people in AA are the nicest I’ve ever met and you’ll find many are willing to give you rides. If you call your local AA and ask, they may have a list of people that are willing to help. Or if you can get a ride from a friend to one meeting, then talk with people after and ask.

Hobbies are great! Find things that bring you joy, indulge in self care or even make yourself a mocktail if that is something that works for you. If something triggers you, leave that space and find something to focus on. Remind yourself of why you’re making this change and of what happens when you drink. That helps me. Good luck!!

Do online zooms. They are great. Lots of choices. I also do The Luckiest Club for their online meetings.
