I remember my life before drugs and alcohol. I was outside all of the time playing sports and skateboarding and working at my dreams.. Actually being a part of society and contributing. Now I’m back to doing the same thing I did before addiction.. Living my life!! It only takes about an hour or two a day of recovery work and That’s a small price to pay to have freedom. That’s a small price to pay to have a shield against relapse. I have a toolbox and I have a shield. I’m not saying every day is easy and I don’t have problems I deal with or issues but they get resolved pretty quickly and really nothing can bring me down.

Thank you Jasmine! I bet you’re excited that Halloween is right around the corner! I’m already starting to see Halloween stuff in stores there was a really cool thermos drink type container at Walgreens I’m going to get that is a Snoopy/ Peanuts gang Halloween version. I’m pretty excited that this is my second Halloween in sobriety. I’m definitely going to get a bunch of candy to hand out in the neighborhood when the kids go trick-or-treating and probably just play it safe and stay home. I don’t need to be around a bunch of nonsense

Handing out candy is an awesome time too …can get dressed up and enjoy the kids reactions when they come to the door. Excited for your new thermos - that sounds like a cool one!

I am for sure very excited. Actually saw a young girl dressed up as a princess and her brother as a dinosaur at Costco today - I said wow I love this and they replied ā€œits pre Halloweenā€ Absolutely the best reply

That’s awesome they definitely sound like your kind of people lol.. I think it’s cool when people are in the holiday spirit well before the holiday!! And kids are the best because they just are pure and full of joy and don’t know the craziness of the world yet. If anything I’m trying to go back to the way I was when I was a kid. Just excited for the next day and full of wonder

I remember being a kid and I was always extremely excited for Halloween and just the concept of going around and getting free candy it was awesome. But to be honest it was also a business opportunity for me and I would always sell my candy at school for the following couple weeks. Of course I would keep the Starburst and skittles but I would sell pretty much everything else. I don’t think that’s normal behavior when you’re like eight or nine years old or younger but that’s just the way my brain was working and my allowance was not enough

Also admittedly one time there was a bowl sitting outside of a house that said take a couple or whatever and I took the whole entire bowl.. like a huge bowl and then my mom made me go back to the house and bring it back and apologize and I was grounded for a long time. I’m pretty sure all of my candy got taken away that Halloween but that’s what I get

It’s also crazy to think of the time difference or whatever.. back then it was a small community in Pennsylvania and people would give out home-cooked snacks and stuff like that and random things and these days nobody would be eating that because you just don’t know and it’s not the same world

Lol - yeah, I think most kids are all about eating the haul …I couldn’t imagine selling it

Times sure are different. Grateful we did get to experience out Halloween cause I can’t imagine just trick or treating for an hour or two. Back in the day we went from 5-10 pm. Can’t believe how our parents let us go miles away exploring all the neighborhoods.

To not derail the thread…I’m super excited that I’m approaching my quadruple digits :tada::tada:…
