When in active addiction, how much was it costing you financially?
I was spending about £250 per month on addiction. This will have risen a lot now if I was still in active addiction because the price of alcohol has really risen since then.
Since stopping I’ve managed to save over £6000 that would have been spent on alcohol. It would be more than that if adjusted for inflation and the fact that my consumption would probably have risen.
That’s an interesting calculation to make. On my side I estimate to about 150€/month so here is what I do:
Every day I don’t drink, I put 5€ on a saving account. Or you can do this on you favorite on line platform. I deposit 5€ on S&P500 for instance. It’s not much, but it beats spending it on booze every time. Food for thought.
My monthly spend on alcohol was about £375 per month. Most of this was on vodka and red wine. I’m not out of danger yet, as I’m only coming up to day 4, but it’s staggering when you add it all up.
$30-$100 a day. This depends if I was on a alcohol binge/ run or opiates. Regardless it was a exhausting way to live where the drugs and alcohol Make your choices for you. If I stay on this path I’m going to save a lot of money and my sanity. Will probably put the saved money towards education eventually. But currently the saved money is going towards Debt, Restitutions, rent and food.
My husband and I would generally spend anywhere from $600-$1000 a week on our DOC. And when we recieved income tax refunds etc that used to go all to our next fix as well. Looking back, I cant believe how much we spent and to be quite honest we didnt have the money for it. We often would borrow money or max out credit cards to fuel our addiction. We would pay some people back but others we didnt (being in recovery i have worked on making those financial amends as well as paid back the bank). It absolutely disgusts me how much we spent on that sh!t. Its just sooo much money that couldve gone to much, MUCH better things.
