I had been ignoring the inevitable for many years. I’m 52 and the deciding factor for me was my children.
I managed my drugs and alcohol for 45 years. Just alcohol the last 20 years or so. I was a really good functioning alcoholic. My very first post on here I said Fat Drunk and Hungover is no way to go through my bronze years. Just tired of it controlling my life I guess. And I always got really bad hangovers.

Decided to stop and actually stop are different things. Once I decided to stop it took a couple years to find the willingness to stop
34 years old. After struggling and drinking away my teens, 20s, and early thirties. Trying to make the remaining years better.
I was 26. Im 28 now. Best thing I ever did. My epilepsy was acting up and my weight was terrible. Decided I want to live to see my kids graduate
and grandkids once mine are old enough to have them

Fair point. I count deciding to stop when I admitted I needed help (dec 2015). My first rehab was March 2016. Sobriety date is 11/2/17.
