I’m 12 days away from a huge milestone-one full year sober. It’s been the toughest year of my life and I want it to be a special day but can’t figure out what to do. How did you or would you celebrate 1 year sober?

Congratulations!!! 1 year is big, I just celebrated my 1st year in March. My best advice for celebrating is FOOD!! 
And I mean like that favorite food you only have once in a while. I chose to go with Crab Legs and Artichokes it was awesome!! Again congrats!!! I hope your day is amazing!!

That’s awesome!! Almost there. I honestly didn’t do much of anything on my one year. I’m pretty sure I just worked, ate a large pizza and watched the new episode “at the time” of The Walking Dead. A couple of my friends did congratulate me. But I spent it by myself.
I have no regrets

I got a tattoo!!
Honestly I didn’t make a big deal about it in public because I don’t think anyone in my real life understood exactly what I was going through. I don’t think they even knew my drinking was so bad.
So I got a tattoo and pretended it was for my belly button birthday (which was the next day) and had a little celebration inside my head.
I also woke up at midnight so I could get a screen capture of the moment my sobriety clock hit 1 year, 0 months, 0 days.

Imagine your perfect day sober. And do that. Mine would an early morning work out. Steak and eggs for breakfast w family. Some quite time to read. Picnic lunch while kayaking with family followed by going out for mexican (yep, with family) and no tequila this time. Then wrap with a family movie. Oh yeah, and a great night of sex with wife followed by good sleep. But that’s just me.

Awesome.its goes same to me too.next months going to be one full year sober.but past few days my minds been distp a lots.i know some evil running in mind sometime. By 24hours help me a lots.i never attend to any meeting .just seeing my thérapie once per months. She told me to do something to celebrat one year sober.but just dont know what and how. This moment with pedimic not easy doing or going something. But all i know want stay sober today.today its more précise then tomorrow. Im truly happy for u and stay positive.

Thank you all!! I appreciate your support and advice! Good food and nice company sounds like a win. A meaningful tattoo is tempting but will at least consider buying something with some of the money I’ve saved from not using drugs anymore.

Having a good therapist saved my life!! Maybe if there’s someone in your life who knows your struggle they could help you come up with a plan for celebrating. It’s all about one day at a time. Sending you strength and love!

Yes on here we like to have sober anniversary ice cream parties 
Everyone will join in on your thread and post their pictures of the ice cream they are eating in honor of you and we all just celebrate together. 
It’s a pretty big deal around here.
