I am dreading the weekend

Weekends are the hardest for me, I really am trying to stop, i tried drinking less but that doesnt work…i end up binge drinking anyway the same night.

So I need to completely stop but its so hard, especially weekends.

Hi
Welcome to the community :slightly_smiling_face:

2923712604 this is the code to a 24/7 AA meeting in zoom. Before you pick up a drink listen in the an hour.
Treat the weekend as a normal day. Do something you enjoy to distract yourself.
Once you realise you can get 24 hours through you will feel good and confident to go another 24 hours… then keep doing that. One day at a time the days will add up and your will be getting better and living life fully.

Hope you see you around here, take a good read around and I believe in you, :star:.

It’s great you found us here because it is full of such supportive people and encouragement.
The thing is when you take a read around we realise we aren’t alone with these feelings and alot of us have been or are still stuck or even just taking it reach day at a time and know exactly what it feels like. Our stories are all unique but all so similar at the same time.
I’m glad your here :people_hugging:

Hey,
weekends are tough but as soon as you get the 1st and 2nd weekend mastered sober the rest will follow, try plan ahead some hobby’s with people that also remain sober and definitely try the zoom meetings daily they help keep you on track and focused you can do it :muscle::heart:

Welcome to TS

So, in a way you already know that you need to be prepared as the weekend will come, no matter what. And your phrase feels like a self-fulfilling prophecy. But it has not to be this way.
You can also choose it to be a good weekend, going out for a walk, going to the cinema. What are some sober activities you can do?
And remember, we are always here as a community to support each other in case a craving hits and the urge to drink or use is getting strong.

Welcome friend, I’m completely on your side here when saying the weekends are the hardest to overcome. If possible I would definitely suggest medical detox, it made it very manageable to get through everything and definitely attend any and all meetings that you can. So far I am a week sober and let me say that you will need all the tools you can get, medicine, replacement drinks (especially hydrating drinks like Gatorade etc), skullcap also works wonders when you’re getting the itch for a drink.

Good luck mate, and cheers to sobriety
