I love spicy food and I grow peppers and tomatoes in particular. Last year I grew over fifteen varieties of peppers, but they were moved by workers, so I had to wait and see what becomes what. Some of them got diseases but I never gave up on them, still picking a few everyday. Jalapeno and Serrano did well, Poblanos not bad. The rest was a mix of this and that. This morning I put a red pepper in my omelette, about an inch long, not big enough to be a Ghost pepper.
O M G !
I am ok now after eating some sour cream and a whole lemon, but, boy was I in pain or what? Now I am scared shitless about tomorrow, you know. No report will be shared about that.
Life lesson learned; know your peppers and behave. Here is a heat scale fyi.
@DS20
It was quite hot when I was eating it but the real pain started a few hours later. My stomach couldn’t handle it. Love jalapenos but not hot enough for me, I roast and eat them like candy.
Chef @LuluJo - Yep! This happened to me too Aswell and getting kitchen beasted with the Reaper and the Trindad!
I used to work for a guy who made his BBQ sauces and would never share his recipes with anyone - He made one with the Trinidad scorpion which he powdered down in a coffee grinder and after he emptied the chamber, he blew into it to clear it out… Right into both of our eyes. That sucked lol
@Jane.c, I am in Montenegro, an AZ, CA transplant. Mediterranean weather. Place I live is the only fjord, interesting microclimate. When I lived in the States in southwest, we would have only few freezes, I used to have peppers as perennials. Three Habaneros are not much different from what I had. I can only imagine.
@TeejLazer, dude, I have been scorched allright, hence the drinking. Not blaming anybody or event but myself of course. You seem to be doing great. Keep on keeping on.
Two years ago I grew trinidad scorpions and carolina reapers. The pictures are on here somewhere. I used them to make salsas and sauces. Might grow them this summer again. I bit a reaper and it was an awful expierence
