I have been alcohol free for two weeks, and within those two weeks I got broken up with and I started dialectical behavioral therapy for my borderline disorder. I am managing but sometimes BPD really scares me. Will I ever get better? I want to eventually enter recovery one day. I dont wanna drink and do drugs to cope or have casual sex. Sometimes the symptoms of emptiness is really intense. I’m 29 and scared. I just want a hug.
Have you tried AA meetings? It’s hugs all around ![]()
Big virtual Squid hug for now

Change your focus! You are two week sober celebrity it. Go for walk. Take yourself to a movie. Maybe go to AA meeting meet new people, that have the same goal of getting sober and making their life better.
Give yourself a spa day. Hang out with friends or family that may have not seen often because you’re were in that relationship.
You will survive this break up, pick yourself up. Work on yourself. You need to work on being your own favorite person. What do you like to do? Maybe write out list! Set some goals. Give yourself permission to move on from this breakup!
@drowninglessons
You already have entered recovery my friend. One day at a time like all of us. DBT is part of your recovery. Not using is part of your recovery. You already started getting better. It’s small steps. And sometimes it’s two steps forwards and one step back. I’ve been in therapy for five years, the first half was the most intense, schema therapy for my own mixed PD (Borderline / Avoidant PD) and other more body oriented group therapy aimed at my traumas.
Progress has been slow but steady. I’m still me but I have made tremendous progress by now. I don’t think my former diagnoses fit me no more. I wouldn’t call myself ‘better’ but I have improved enormously. I’m alive and I dare to live life. My (social and general) anxiety has decreased spectacularly. I work in addiction care now. I love my job. I meet new people. My life still isn’t easy but it is so much better!
You already are in recovery friend. Keep going. You’re doing so much better than you think. Hang with us, hang with your peers as that’s another huge part of recovery. Big big hugs

Your brave
Your strong
Your opinion matters
That being said, how well do you know yourself?
If the clock seems to go by slow, which it does for everyone sometimes, just breath calmly and maybe do just a little sole searching. But don’t overwhelm yourself. Little steps at a time.
How are you today?

It will get better, remain clean and keep attending therapy. Alcohol will just make everything worse, you already know that.
Hello! Im ok today…. still sad and waking up anxious
You’re still here and sober
