I’m worthless

I hear you, I’m wearing a long sleeve top today and it’s pretty warm! Sending love and support

Welcome to the club! I am a member. In the beginning I made sobriety such a priority. Over time I stopped thinking about “not drinking”
constantly. It got better and easier. We can never let our guard down, but it gets easier.

Well I’ve had a bit of a test this evening. We went out for dinner to one of our favourite restaurants and I normally have at least 2 large glasses of wine when we go. Then I’ve got the taste for it so I polish off a bottle when I get home. I was very anxious before we went, craving that glass of wine. However…. tonight I sat down, ordered a coke and didn’t miss the wine at all! I actually enjoyed myself more because I was present at the table and I’m chilling at home now looking forward to a good nights sleep and a hangover free morning. Baby steps I know but it feels good.

I rekon these wins in the beginning count for more because they are the hardest days IMHO, i would suggest a tiny word of caution for putting yourself in situations where booze is present in the early days tho…bit like if u keeping putting a kid in a sweety shop so to speak…theyl probably have a sweety at some point…i stayed away from it completely for the first 3 months xx

It did feel like a win and i am worried about becoming complacent so I hear exactly what you’re saying. Compared to how I felt a couple of days ago I feel on top of the world but I’ve given up for a couple of weeks before and it has all come crashing down so I’m going to take it slowly and stay away from temptation for a bit. Thank you for the wise words as usual xx
