That was something I made sure to do during my early sobriety. I also quit cigarettes and booze the same day.
I got a few pairs of shoes. Went on vacation. Got a full sleeve tattoo. For my 1 year I went skydiving.
As time went on my money started going to things like retirement accounts. Because now that I’m not planning on drinking myself to death, I figure I’ll need some money for my future.
You definitely buy yourself gifts for your milestones.
