I have been drinking 2-4 days a week for over 16 years. Sometimes I can have a few and then stop. That being said I have blacked out no less than 20 times this year and countless other times.
I have also dealt with some tragedy a few months back which hasn’t helped.
I believe I’m an alcoholic and want to change. I know this may not seem the same as other stories. Any thoughts or suggestions?
If you feel like you have a problem than there is a problem and if you want to quit i wpuld recommend starting hy talking with your doctor. Most doctors can help point you in the right direction.
It sounds like we are very similar drinkers. At times I could have a few and control myself and stop, but more often than not I would overdo it and black out. So for me, I think its best to stop drinking altogether because the times I lose control and can’t remember what I did the night before are enough to scare the shit out of me.
Follow your instincts and take it one day at a time. But if it is sobriety that you’re searching for, you’ve come to the right place for some great support and advice.
JBoh - it’s you checking in almost 7 years sober! You can do hard things! stay strong!!! If one day at a time is too long, try seconds and minutes. Don’t pick up a drink
