If you GOOGLE your username does it appear on the first page of results?

Mine is like the third hit on the first page. All the rest are for some California lawyer named “Steven Yoda”. Cool name for a lawyer.

“Honor your. Not guilty my client pleads”.

I just did
Butterfly Moon Woman and you and TS did not pop up.

Butterflymoonwoman … yes. You.

Eeekkk I just did the same and :flushed:
I don’t think many people are aware how much can be seen especially with the selfie threads :grimacing:

I wonder if there should be more security required to see certain threads…

I went back through a while again and removed some information/photos when I was first aware.

I don’t pop up at all phew :relieved:
I think as well the forum shouldn’t be that open  It could have an open area where noobs or us oldtimers can post but there should also be a closed part that’s hidden.

I was thinking about this subject lately.
Mostly as I think I might post to many fotos of my kids. I think I should, and I will, delete them.

Anything in the lounge is hidden from public view.
You need to earn, and maintain, regular status to access though

I’m still happy that I chose a username that is a common word. it’s Thanksgiving

True that.
Choosing a common word or phrase would keep you out of top rankings.
A name like “the news” or “today’s weather” would be nice and obscure in search results.
In fact… the name “today’s weather” is really cool.
I like it!

I understand the idea behind the Regular status, but many aren’t able to maintain said status.
Only a small group does. I lost mine too, so do I not earn the right to post things that I don’t want the public to know? Why post at all then? And I’m sure I’m not the only one who thinks like that.
I think this should be adjusted.

I think keeping certain topics private is more problematic than it appears. You can keep a whole area private, admitting only certain users, but to keep individual topics private is much more difficult to achieve.
I know some people set up PMs with multiple participants to achieve some privacy - as messages can’t be scraped by bots - but you have to invite people to join and there is no way for them to search and find it.

I agree. I held a lot in while waiting to earn my regular status back as I wasn’t comfortable sharing on the public spaces. And it was really difficult. I was lucky enough to get a few invitations to talk with people in messages, but didn’t want to burden anyone in particular, in case it was too much…
I have thankfully earned it back for now, but would appreciate a private (or just not Google search available) section in the app for if I was to lose regular status in the future

If it were private to the app, instead of private within the app I think it could be beneficial

There is an option to ‘unlist’ threads. This means anyone who has commented on it can still see it and the OP can invite others to it (moderators can also see it). It is hidden from the main forum and I assume (I cannot attest to this as fact) it does not turn up on Google. But this does offer you a private way of connecting outside of the main forum and lounge. No special status required.

As with all internet activity, we should be cognizant of what we share online. Selfies, pictures and such. Some of us are more comfortable with heightened privacy (I do not share selfies or personal identifying info), others are more open. We each decide for ourselves our comfort level in sharing. We all need to be cognizant that we are in a public online domain.

Edited to add…if lounge status is lost, moderators can move threads out of the lounge to a PM or to an unlisted thread so you can continue your conversation.

I’m just saying on the Safari search your name in three different words brings up a lot of other hits that are not you.
Yes. Butterflymoonwoman is all you.
Butterfly moon woman is not. Once you started using that name ( if you can, not sure if blank spaces can work) there’s lots of competition.
