In tears of how bad i want to stop drinking

Charlie, what you cannot do on your own is stop drinking and stay stopped. Most other things you can dare to change. Even if the specifics of @michaeljlogan74’s suggestions don’t work for you, you can put into action the spirit of them. You can go to your doctor, you can seek out some sort of help with the rehabilitation process, residential or outpatient or individual counseling.

What are you willing to do to get and stay sober? That is the question.

In a lot of ways, I was like you, I didn’t think I could take the time to get well, and in my heart, I didn’t think that another rehab was going to help me anyway. Then I was arrested for DUI for the 5th time and sentenced to 3 years, almost all of it on house arrest with provisions to allow me to go to work, to treatment, and to AA meetings. That took the decision out of my hands.

You can get arrested, you can get dumped by your family, you can get fired by your job, you can be hospitalized for heart failure. If you want to make the decision for yourself, the sooner you act, the more likely it is to be your decision. All those things can happen, but so can this - you can get well, you can get sober, you can be content in life. And you deserve a sober life.

Blessings on your house  as you begin your journey.
