Increased appetite with sobriety?

25 days sober, not my first time around, but it is my first time sober during a weight loss journey, that has been going strong since March. This month has been rough with an increased appetite, and cravings like no other, it has been super difficult keeping the calorie deficit with this constant hunger! (Even extra hydrating to try and help) This will pass or is the appetite increase here to stay?

Increased appetite is normal early on and it doesn’t last forever.

A lot of it though, is how, what and when you’re eating.

How much of a deficit are you in?

Are you eating regularly, every 3 to 4 hours?

Are you fasting at all?

Are you tracking your food?

If so, are you hitting your macro targets?

And most importantly, are you getting enough sleep?

I’m currently in about a 500 calorie deficit, if I eat regularly, say every 3 hours, I can feel satiated all day, when I spread out the meals any further, I’m uncomfortably hungry.

Weird, I just responded to another thread about this, only with weed :joy: I know more about this tho. I was always active while drinking, up until the last few years. I stopped exercising completely and gained 40lbs. Trying to exercise again while still drinking had no affect at all. At the end I was consuming 2,000 calories in liquor almost everyday, plus whatever food I could stomach(alot of bread and cheese).

Quitting, instantly cut out a massive amount of empty calories. But then I was suddenly able to eat whatever/whenever I wanted. And I did. I felt nutrient deprived. Replenishing was more important than losing weight at this point. I craved milk and fruit constantly, and ate as much protein as I could. Gradually increased my exercise and the weight loss did begin. It took a few months before the cravings subsided and I felt somewhat normal.

Alcohol throws every part of your body out of whack. It takes time to heal and regulate normally again, but once it does, good changes will come  Patience and consistentcy is key. Good job on your 25 days! :tada:

My diet has been pretty consistent since I started my journey in March, I track everything to the tee even when I was drinking I calculated it. No fasting, high protein, while drinking my deficit was a lot bigger but now sober I am eating way closer to maintence and my weight has stalled because of this. Hopefully it passes :sob:
