Meditation for the day
… My life cannot flower into success and help fullness unless it is rooted in a strong faith, (…) unless it feels deeply secure in the goodness and purpose of the universe.

Meditation for the day
… My life cannot flower into success and help fullness unless it is rooted in a strong faith, (…) unless it feels deeply secure in the goodness and purpose of the universe.
One of the most important meditations for me. My emphasis added.

Meditation for the Day
Whenever we seek to worship God, we think of the great universe that God rules over, of creation, of mighty law and order throughout the universe. Then we feel the awe that precedes worship. I too must feel awe, feel the desire to worship God in wondering amazement. My mind is in a box of space and time and it is so made that I cannot conceive of what is beyond space or time, the limitless and the eternal. But I know that there must be something beyond space and time, and that something must be the limitless and eternal Power behind the universe. I also know that I can experience that Power in my life.
Prayer for the Day
I pray that I may accept the limitless and eternal Spirit. I pray that It may express Itself in my life.
It’s July 15 again! I have probably posted this in past years. The belief in the fundamental rightness of things is a cornerstone of my sobriety.

Thought for the Day
After we had sobered up through the A.A. program, we gradually began to get a peace of mind and serenity, which we never thought were possible. This peace of mind is based on a feeling that fundamentally all is well. That does not mean that all is well on the surface of things. Little things can keep going wrong and big things can keep on upsetting us. But deep down in our hearts we know that everything is eventually going to be all right, now that we are living sober lives. Have I achieved a deep down, inner calm?
Thank you for sharing these, they are great! I’m going to have to get this book.
It’s September 16th again, and one of the most moving and stunning declarations is made today. 24 hours a day, by Richmond Walker, entry for today.
Meditation for the Day
We seem to live not only in time but also in eternity. If we abide with God and (God) abides with us, we may bring forth spiritual fruit, which will last for eternity. If we live with God, our lives can flow as some calm river through the dry land of earth. It can cause the trees and flowers of the spiritual life - love and service - to spring forth and yield abundantly. Spiritual work may be done for eternity, not just for now. Even here on earth we can live as though our real lives were eternal.
Prayer for the Day
I pray that I may try to make my life like a cool river in a thirsty land. I pray that I may give freely to all who ask my help.

Meditation for the Day
In improving our personal lives, we have Unseen help. We were not made so that we could see the Divine. (…) It takes an act of faith, a venture of belief, to realize the Unseen Power. Yet we have much evidence of the Power’s existence in the strength that many people have received from the act of faith, the venture of belief. We are in a box of space and time and we can see neither our souls nor the Divine. The Divine and the human spirit are both outside the limitations of space and time. Yet our Unseen help is effective here and now. That has been proved in thousands of changed lives.
Prayer for the Day
I pray that I may make the great venture of belief. I pray that my vision may not be blocked by intellectual pride.
This is perfect for me today. Recently hubby questioning his own spirituality so text this to him. With AA I gained a clearer understanding of faith and beliefs and the power that can come from with in. It is a very personal journey but want to help my husband find his faith especially in me.
“The devil can not make hell look beautiful, so he makes beautiful roads that lead us there”
Grapevine Magazine, quote of the day October 1, 2025
“My understanding of a Higher Power is still subject to shifts. Sometimes, I think of it as The Unknowable, or as The Great What Is. Often, I envision it as an indifferent force, something like an electrical current, that is available to all living things and from which human beings can derive strength and generosity and acceptance. The one thing I feel sure of is that it’s more powerful than my will.”

Meditation for the Day
Though it may seem a paradox, we must believe in spiritual forces, which we cannot see more than in material things which we can see, if we are going to truly live. In the last analysis, the universe consists more of thought or mathematical formulas than it does of matter, as we understand it. Between one human being and another only spiritual forces will suffice to keep them in harmony. These spiritual forces we know, because we can see their results although we cannot see them. A changed life - a new personality - results from the power of unseen spiritual forces working in us and through us.
Prayer for the Day
I pray that I may believe in the Unseen. I pray that I may be convinced by the results of the Unseen, which I do see.
Reinhold Niebuhr, A.A. Grapevine, June, 1960
(AA’s) record reveals the source of its success.
First, it uses people who have themselves come through the experience of alcoholism to help other people, and thus it prevents self-righteousness which so frequently mars the life of Christians. Secondly, it relies a great deal on an inner-dedicated community which can be trusted to help a man in need any time. This is the social expression of grace. Thirdly, it both affirms the divine mystery of conversion, but refuses to define this mystery with precise dogmatic statements. And finally, it has learned to be patient and never to give up, no matter how many backsliding there may be.
Alcoholics helping alcoholics. A community dedicated to helping one another. A fundamental understand that Divinity is, and is as we experience it. Patience and tolerance. Simple, powerful, life changing ideas in action.
I love the phrase “the social expression of grace”.
I’ve never read this before in this succinct way. It is powerful and true! Thank you for posting.
