Island of the Misfit Toys

During my walk this evening I got to thinking about the lovely people on this app.
We all come together from all over the world, with something in common. We’re fighting for the light we know continues to flicker within us.
We struggle with addiction and the traumas that led us down our paths of self destruction, but we still keep fighting and to me that is a beautiful thing.

It reminds me of the scene in Stranger Things, when Max is about to be consumed by the darkness, but she keeps chasing the light, towards her friends. Towards love.

Keep fighting.

I have never heard of “Island of the Misfit Toys”, is it a kids thing?
Mind you, I had never heard of ‘Curious George’ either until I unexpectedly found myself looking after my neighbors’ 2-year old today and he wanted to watch some TV

I would of killed for a water pistol that shot jelly, when I was a kid. The damage I could have done :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I didn’t know either the Island of misfit Toys or Stranger Things but the video clip made me cry instantly. And the term Misfit made me think of this. Loved it way before I quit drinking. Thanks friend and friends X

This was incredibly beautiful. It made me cry, too. 🩷

“How many times I’ve had to reinvent a self from the ruins of my choices.”

You beautiful misfit.

I love that scene. When Comet freaks out and his eyes go all crazy I used to imitate him, including the noise he makes. It became a yearly event. When my kids were very little it was encouraged. Later on, not so much.

Never lost the magic… In High School a few of us would sit in the library at lunch during a rainy day and sing all the songs. Wizard of Oz and The Muppet Movie were also on the play bill…I am sure we were told to be quiet more than once.

I still always say ‘I don’t wanna be a toy maker. I want to be a dentist.’

I watch it every year…my sons are 30 and 27 and on their own. I still do the imitation. I try to do the dances from Charlie Brown Christmas. Elf? Lots of singalongs and imitations there. My husband joins in. You’re so right…never lost the magic! And you don’t need to be under the influence to act a little bonkers. And I’m sure those are great memories. Playbill? Hahahaha
