I have been sentenced to attend 4 aa meetings a week prior to my sentencing for a 2nd Dui but do not have proof of attendance. How can I deal with that? some aa meeting did not supply that. I have not had a drink since the beginning of Oct 2022, but sure the court does not care about that. help.
I would consult your attorney on this matter.
Usually there is a form to give the meeting’s secretary to sign and date. Could you ask the court to give you one? Great job on your sober time. You should be proud even if the court doesn’t care. I’m sure it will show in your next appearance.
Welcome Rich, good on you for staying sober and working on being present.
So, you can get signatures from the chair of each meeting that you attended from here on out. When you’re in court be honest & open with the judge that you’ve been attending and didn’t have a sign slip in the beginning. Briefly explain what AA and other + things have done so far for you and your willingness to live.
We can’t go wrong with being honest. To ourselves and to others, always.
I just found a form online: https://images.sampletemplates.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/Meeting-Attendance-Sheet.jpg
I was court ordered to go to AA for a dui but I was already attending on my own. I felt shame in asking at my regular in person meetings so I did the court ordered ones online and was able to print them out. I’ll drop a link to the website below. They have AA meetings every other hour and there’s an option to click “mark attendance” at the start of the meeting. As long as you stay in the meeting the entire time (not required to share), the proof will be available under your profile after the meeting ends. It’s a pdf that shows the date, meeting type (AA), what time you got there and what time you left.
Had no idea this existed. That’s fantastic.
I had no idea that AA online offered that,…. I love that you’re here @Lisa07 , this place is better because of you. All the mods are awesome, so helpful and full of great advise. This place is spot on! I’m so glad I found it.
Aww! Thanks Sarah! I don’t post as much these days but I do try to help where I can.
Thank you all for your help! You guys are GREAT!!. I talked to my attorney this morning and he seemed more positive than in the past after I explained the situation. Not drinking has not been an issue with me as compared to others I know. My drinking consisted of light beer only and I drank at the local bar only for the comradery and music. Others I know are drinking liters of hard alcohol and are having real difficulty. I feel helpless in that matter. I will offer this site to them.
Thank you all again and will be staying tuned!!
I could be wrong. But it sounds like you’re rationalizing and minimizing the seriousness of your problem. Are you considering moderation? This is your second DUI. Maybe, the problem is bigger than you think it is
That’s the most important thing. I know it’s hard to prove but maybe your Google timeline. A letter from a person who knows you went, but that might be hard cause, you know, anonymity
Good luck. Stay sober. Ask for more time to attend meetings. I am so inclined to think that if they are giving you time to attend, they might give you more time to attend more. They already have extended you GRACE and they probably want the best for you. Just ask. It shouldn’t hurt to ask.
I just realized i replied to a thread months later
