Day 1… again. I cannot keep starting over every week. The weekend comes around and i find it so hard to not give in. I have to find ways to hold myself accountable and not cave in. I am dying for a sober weekend, one i can remember crystal clear.
Welcome to talking sober, Jessica. Nice to have you here. This is a great community, with loads of support. There are multiple threads on here to hold yourself accountable: daily check in, friday or weekend thread, gratitude list…
Hope to see you around and all the best for your sobriety journey
This is me. Every fucking weekend. I don’t know what to do. Literally every Monday ends up being my day one again. I don’t remember what happened from Friday at like 8pm until about noon on Sunday and I’m so embarrassed and disgusted with myself. I hate that you’re going through something similar. It’s awful. I wish I had good advice. Just know you’re not alone.
Start thinking ahead a little and try to avoid weekend plans where alcohol will be present or you will be triggered. Think long and hard about if you really desire sobriety or merely the idea of it. Are you seeking outside support on a daily basis?
If you keep doing the same over and over, you get the same outcome over and over.
What have you tried so far?
For me it helped to avoid every alcohol related event, people and places for the first 3 months ore so of my sobriaty.
I even ate no pizza because I knew I want wine with it because I always did.
And make a plan on front for the weekend. What are you going to do (keep yourself busy!) and what is your plan when urges kick in?
Being prepared helps loads!
Are you trying to work a program?
Welcome to Talking Sober.
First day is always hard. But I believe you can do it. If something, I’m here for you.
Hi, welcome to this amazing group of people! Plan ahead. No DOC anywhere near you. Make your environment calm and clear of anything related to drinking or drugs. Remember! NOTHING CHANGES IF NOTHING CHANGES. Things will continue to be the same if you keep doing the same. Addiction is a sneaky B**tard. Take it nice and steady and make sure you have plenty of soft drinks and sweet treats around you. Your body will be craving the sugar that is in the booze so be sure to have icecream in or chocolate etc. also check out H.A.L.T in the search bar. There are so many reasons why you turn to it not just the buzz. Be gentle on yourself and above all, stay on here with us. It gets easier, I promise
Maybe try a meeting they helped me wish you well
