This past weekend I went to visit my best friend for his sons 18th birthday, he lives 1 hour flight away from me for the past 10 years so we don’t get to physically see each other often. The past 2 time I went to see him and his family I was a mess hanging out sick and just not present, he asked me if I’m ok and of course I lied and said I’m fine, but I could see in his eyes he was heartbroken. His helped me just by talking to me over the phone to beat my addiction and get sober. And to be there for his sons 18th and seeing the whole
Family so happy to see me and how good I looked and how mentally strong I’ve become. It was one of the best weekends of my life. I hope you can all have a best friend like mine. Added a photo from the night, hope my story brightens up your day, and gives hope to those who need it :pray:

You’re wonderful story just brought a smile to my face. I do have a best friend like that. His name is Jon and we knew each other since middle school. It started off with 5 of us and tbh, we were never really that close in the beginning but grew closer over time while the 4 other’s just grew distant (for me).
When I went sober, I cut mostly all of my friends off but stayed in touch with him. When I told him that I started my sobriety, he told me that he stopped drinking as well. He’s a practical man who has a family he adores and he (like me) just got tired of it. We don’t see each other a lot because we’re adulting but we stay in touch via FB. His wife couldn’t stand my drunk/coked up ass but now she has nothing but love for me. I’m pretty tight with his mom and dad too. Friend’s like that are just hard to find man. Here’s to our Sobriety and the special Friendship’s we have!

That’s awesome to hear, my story is similar to yours, we are truly blessed to have people in our lives that will never give up on us. :pray:

Thank you @Blondie1x I feel truly blessed! :grin: sometimes all it takes is one minute thing or the right words at the right time to create change in someone’s life. I’m proof of that, and will continue to try my best to do the same for others. Hope you have a great week. Love from AUS

Thank you @Natnat1 I’m blessed to have a friend since the age of 8 to now 39 who is now a brother, and have unconditional love and never once give up on me. I wish everyone had a true best friend like mine, I hope to give back as much as I can. :grinning: glad my post make people smile. have a blessed week!
