So originally the adverts on this app were like
“Sell all your clothes”
“Sell all your books”
I don’t know what I’ve done different-- but now the adverts are trying to get me to invest in stocks and shares.
WTF!!
That’s funny. I guess the algorithms think you need to invest all the cash you took in selling all your stuff!
I “invested” in the paid version of the app. Ad free is for me!

I’ve been getting the same ad for 3 years about becoming a counselor at some online university
LOL. The algorithm mustn’t think I’m clever enough
I’m like one breath away from doing that too. I get ads for a lot of strange things and most of the time I can’t get out from the ad without restarting the app. Which leads me to a new ad. And, yeah you get it. Eventually I win on being stubborn but it’s still annoying

Robin posted about this in the past. I’ve been getting the same “become a counselor” since I started here.
Edit…Here’s Robin’s previous reply about ads in the app…
The app uses Google’s ads and Google chooses what to show you based on what they think you are interested in. I have set up filters on the advertising dashboard so that certain categories like drinks, medication and gambling are not shown. It’s all an automated system though, so if an advertiser tells Google that something is not gambling (but in reality it actually is), they sometimes slip through the cracks and it gets shown. Not supposed to though.
I paid the couple of euros to have the ads removed a long time ago.

I finally paid to remove the ads and it was only $2.99. I thought it was going to be a monthly fee and now see it’s a one time fee. Well worth it.

I suppose that I must have paid at some point too, and given that the amount was apparently so low, I’ve forgotten about it.
I don’t see ANY adverts in the app, so I can only imagine that that’s the case.
