Just got rejected by a girl I was interested in. I’m going to relapse

Not in a good place right now. The rejection really hit hard and all after a tough work week and problems with my ex and my daughter is now having issue because of her. Idk what to do. I know I am going to relapse.

The best thing to do is to stop and acknowledge what you are feeling. Don’t think about the future just focus on right now in this moment. Name your feelings, write them down. It’s important to acknowledge what you are feeling. The desire to relapse is a sign that something needs to be felt. Try and focus on your breathing and notice how you feel.

That’s the kind of victim mentality that’ll keep you stuck in the perpetual loop of self loathing and self destruction.

You’re better than that and once you start to treat yourself as such, you’d make a better suitor to future romantic interests.

I’m sorry you feel rejected and that you’re struggling. :mending_heart:

You did the right thing by talking about it.

Do something different than just relapsing. That’s a tired out song and dance that doesn’t work for you or ANYONE.

You’ve got this!

Not to minimize the situation because I know it hurts and it unpleasant, but rejection is part of putting yourself out there. It’s going to happen, and when it does, it sucks but it really is not the end of the world. Take this from someone who used to get all worked up over this kind of thing.

Nobody, nothing, can make you drink or use but yourself. Period. Anything else is an excuse. This is just the addiction part of your brain looking for a reason. I know this because I have been there and done it myself.

The choice is always yours.

We see what we look at. And whether you think you can or you think you can’t, you are right.

It’s all about perspective. Getting drunk or high will not heal your hurt feelings, it will only postpone the feeling to when you are coming down or are hungover. Get to an AA meeting, in person or online, and listen to how folks there stay sober.

The pity pot is a tempting seat, for sure, but it is a lie built on false assumptions about what we need vs what we want.

If you are asking for support and advice, you can get it here. If you are looking for someone to co-sign your dramatic bullshit, you probably will not find it here.

You come to a place where people will help you. Helping genuinely is calling out our own bullshit for each other. Seeing through the lies we have all blindly seen and been through to he able to point them out. People talking from a place of wisdom and really meaning the best but not sugarcoating it.. now you’ve likely got yourself a permanent ban? Youll wake up oneday.

The pain of rejection stings for sure. It can be truly crushing…

Relapsing will not ease the sting; it will make it worse: the pain of rejection plus the pain of not keeping you commitment to yourself.

I have NEVER felt better after a relapse; no matter how good I felt while acting out. I ALWAYS felt crushed in my spirit; like a loser, who has no control over anything, even my own choices.

If you’ve already relapsed by now, try not to take that attitude again; it’s a set up for failure. And, if you haven’t relapsed yet…

Don’t do it, bro. You absolutely WILL regret it.
