Keep refusing to make excuses

On day 5 now, and my brain keeps making excuses for me to indulge

“Once a week wouldn’t hurt”
“It’s only natural to feel these things”
Etc.

To everyone out there, DON’T LET THESE EXCUSES MAKE WAY FOR YOUR ADDICTIONS!!!

I’ve done it time and time again, “once a week” turns into twice a week, turns into 3 times, turns into 4.

It’s time to break these thought patterns that keep turning our clocks back!

Stay strong :muscle:

That was one of the biggest hurdles I had to overcome at the beginning of my sobriety journey. I always tried to “cut back” on drinking and would make all the excuses to drink. Finally, I just had to cut drinking out completely.

Good on you for making the right choice

I hope that person has grown to become better company since then

Great choice man! I once had a friend tell me that “You can’t be an addict in moderation”, and that is one of the most helpful things I’ve ever heard during this journey.

You are so right. This addiction can be lying and persuasive.

Great work posting here BEFORE giving into the urge. That shows a lot of character and personality responsibility versus relapsing and showing up back here weeks later wondering what happened…
