Life insurance for addicts

Bit of a random one….

Currently trying to get life insurance

I’ve been sober over 5 years but still struggling due to what’s on my medical records regarding alcohol

Most insurers say “within the last 10 years”

Can anybody recommend any specialist companies or brokers based in the UK who can help?

What are peoples experiences
Got a resentment as should’ve just gone straight to AA rather than through the doctors as you get penalised asking for help as it was pointless anyway

Gone through sites like this- I get to speak to them and they say they cannot offer cover :rofl:

I only want cover until retirement age @Ray_M_C_Laren and you’ve well surpassed that now

Wow I never even thought about this :flushed:
How do they “prove” you’re an alcoholic, I could understand if you have been to a residential rehab.
I wonder if it’s the same here, I don’t have any dependents so never looked into it but I’m curious now :exploding_head:

It’s on my record as I went for “help”

Got referred to the alcohol recovery team and was prescribed medication etc…

Nightmare

Had a phone conversation with the doctor so it’s now on my record I’ve verbally informed him I’m over 5 years sober

Also had a liver function test which is normal range - this proves I’ve not damaged myself

My chlosterol is slightly raised though as I’m an unhealthy greedy pig with food :shallow_pan_of_food:
