Lockdown easing, social venues opening

I’ve found it easier to quit the booze with the absence of social venues, especially the pub which was my go to for a social and obviously a beer.

Alcohol is heavily tied to socialising, have you any plans to avoid / cope with, the drink traps?

I just socialised less. It’s one summer - really not the end of the world. It will be easier next year!

I wasn’t a total hermit. I asked friends to do different things - turns out getting pissed wasn’t really a very good way for me to socialise. I would go off on my own and speak to randoms, or if i stayed with my friends just chat shit and not remember half of it. That was on a good night!

I switched my timeline so I got up early and did stuff in the day time. Go out for lunch. Go to the cinema. Sightseeing. Museums and galleries. If people you know don’t want to do stuff you’re interested in, maybe it’s time to find some new people to know. You could join a club or go to Meetups based around things that interest you…

Or you can just be bored. It is ok to be bored! In fact learning to just sit and be with myself is one of the hardest but most rewarding things I am learning in sobriety.
