Yesterday was the beginning of turning our little garden into a little farm, and turning that little farm into an official nonprofit organization.
We started out just trying to feed our family, then we realized we had a nack for growing. Initially we looked at this nack as an income stream for us. Then we decided to donate all of what we grow to those that are hungry.
I could only achieve all of this by becoming sober. Drunk ThirdMonkey only had time to drink and think of himself. He was as selfish as he could be, and the laziest person. He was a slave to alcohol, and only functioned to get to the next drink.
Lolli is Ms. Monkey and I am Pop. Names that came about as we were talking about grandparents names when we found out we had a grandbaby on the way. That in initself was an unbelievable miracle. None of that would have been imaginable before sobriety.
Paperwork has been filled out to turn us into an official non profit…a board of directors has been created…our greenhouse is being built tomorrow. Tshirts, ballcaps, and buisness cards are on the way. I sit here this morning, amazed at where sobriety has taken me. Looking at our tshirt design and our logo, my eyes get moist…thinking what I was, where I am at, and the potential of the future.
That’s tremendous news Scott. Makes my eyes moist as well. Recovery is a gift that keeps giving, just as long as we keep working it, one day at a time. Member of your European fanclub here.
Wow. This is so inspirational. I am a first time grandma of a perfect 6 month old. He will call me Kiki. I look forward to following more about this so keep us up to date. Life really is good with a clear mind. Keep the good work coming.
Scott…just amazing and inspiring undertaking!! And a true gift of sobriety. Love the name and the great t-shirt! My husband is Pop to our first grandchild and I am Nanny. Took me a second with “Lolli” and “Pop”.
Congratulations Mr and Mrs Thirdmonkey!
Love your names, Lolli and Pops!
From a garden for yourselfs to feeding the hungry is fantastic. You 2 are amazing, loving, selfless people
Can’t wait to hear more about how it transpires.
Thanks for being a beacon of sobriety, Scott. We choose what we do, you are living proof of that, and we can choose to plug into the Divine by seeing it in all the humans around us.
