Lost my job

I’m getting discouraged because I lost my job and I’m a felon with no license so it’s going to be so hard for me to get a job now. It’s causing me to think about using to numb myself from the worries and stress. I’ve been sober 2 and a half years but there’s so much going on in my life right now and I’m scared to death that I’m gonna fall off

Dude don’t fall off! I know it’s rough but things do get better. Think of it this way if you fall off there is no way you’re going to get another job. Stay sober talk to us if you get a craving keep your head up and keep looking you’ll find something.

I’m sorry that you lost your job and you’re going through a hard time right now. I know it seems hopeless at the moment but the only way to go from here is up. If you think your life is tough now, imagine what it will be like after you use. Sure you will be numb but only temporarily and when you come back down and back to reality it will be SO much worse. Maybe even irreversible. Right now your problems can be fixed. You are not in jail or in the hospital. Start job hunting and doing some self care. This mountain may just be a mole hill. Best wishes

I’m trying my best. I’m not a weak person at all but the temptation has been harder on me now. I don’t have a license to get around to job hunt atm. But my cousin I worked with literally just txt me and told me that I am be able to talk to my boss and get my job back. So that’s some hope there. I’ve been praying for god to keep me sober and he just answered my prayers. Ty so so much for your input and time. That was really sweet of you. I just finished my classes at advantage in Plainfield but I feel like I need to go to some different kind of classes for now to help me stay on the path

Well I thought I had a chance to get my job back but that’s a wrap. I can’t get it back so now I don’t know what to do. I do know that I have to stay focused and stay away from drugs. Thank you guys for the inspiration

You ever consider Temp Agencies?

And when you come back down, all the worries and stress will be right there waiting for you, and you will still need to get a job.

Save yourself some grief, aggravation, and tons of regret…skip the relapse and go straight to the job hunt.

Brian, stay strong brother. There are temp agencies out there that can find you something to make ends meet. I was told this once and it also applies to drugs “there is nothing so bad in this world, that a drink won’t make worse”. Think about it… drugs or drink aren’t going to make the situation better. It may dissipate temporarily, but once you’ve come back to reality, the issues will still be there, stating you in the face.

Hi, Brian!

I dont know if they have an Iron Workers Union in your state; but i do know they accept felons. Its construction type work with many different traids. You have the oppurtunity to go to school to become a journey men, and you also get paid well and have a pension.

Something to maybe look into? Good luck to you!
