Hello everyone. My name is Franki and I am 8 days sober! I just finished my medical detox at a local facility and am finally home again with my husband and kids and it feels amazing.
My problem with addiction started at 18 (now 36). It was small things at first that lead into the harder things. I would do go for a period of time and then something major in life would happen and I would relapse.
It wasn’t j until 2019 that my addiction completely took over. I broke my back with a work accident and had to have emergency surgery. I was then prescribed my DOC and it went down hill from there. Because it was a man injury, I justified my addiction for years. It wasn’t h til recently did I realize the choke hold it had on me. I was no longer able to function unless I had something in my system. And if I didn’t have anything, then it was a bad day of shakes, nausea, vomiting, and more.
My wonderful husband finally confronted me this past January and brought to my attention the destruction I was creating. When he said he was so afraid the kids Amir he would find me dead, that was my turning point.
The next day I called a local facility and was able to be admitted for an education detox. The first three days were pure hell but that fourth day it was like waking up to life again. I was able to feel again.
I completed my 8 days and am now finally home and working on getting set up with an MAT program, trauma therapy, and NA meetings. Here’s to 8 days and counting!!!
