Man this is tough

I’m currently on day 47 of no weed and day 5 of no alcohol. I smoked more pot than I’ve drank alcohol and smoked longer than I’ve drank but man giving up alcohol has been way harder than giving up weed. Usually after day 3 or 4 of no weed it gets better but the opposite is true with alcohol for me. The first three days are pretty easy then it starts getting harder around day 4 or 5. Anybody else in this boat?

I was in that boat with alcohol, it was hard as hell at times, but not as hard as living in active addiction. Sobriety podcasts, sobriety audio books and this place saved my life. It gets easier, keep going!

It was definitely like that in the beginning for me but at the same time I just kept myself extremely busy so I had no time to think about the fact that I wasn’t drinking and I still stay really busy.. I promise you it gets easier if you really put work into your recovery and learn who you really are and learn some coping strategies. You Need to find something better than the alcohol.. A Reason to wake up in the morning.. I know in the next couple weeks/ months or so your brain is going to try to play tricks on you and tell you maybe it wasn’t that bad or maybe you’re making a big deal out of this but don’t listen to that BS in your head! Stay on the sober path no matter what and things can only continue to get better for you. Your alcohol life seems normal so that’s why things maybe feel a little weird right now or hard but eventually sobriety will be normal and it won’t feel weird or difficult.. Just like anything sobriety takes practice.. The more you practice sobriety the easier it becomes and you become stronger with your recovery.. Of course life is going to happen and life is going to throw obstacles in your way or roadblocks but it’s nothing you have to drink over.. The cool thing about this place is that it’s 24 seven and there’s always somebody on here that you can talk to because it’s worldwide.. Just do the best you can for today and tomorrow repeat
