Marijuana + Psychosis

Is this common? I just had a v. interesting appointment with my physician…

I ad to stop smoking because of psychosis. It was horrible. My psych meds interacted with it. Never want to live that again.

When you’re vulnerable to psychosis indeed it happens, and quite a lot too. Especially since the weed became so much stronger over here (Netherlands), where they made weed much more potent by heightening the THC content which at the same time lowered the CBD content (CBD protects from psychosis, THC heightens the risk).

I quit smoking 10 years ago. Luckily for me I’m not prone to psychosis, all it gave me was bad paranoia in the later years I smoked (I did for 35 years).

Weed starting making me feel like sh**! anxiety/shaking - not fun

I’m glad though that I experienced that because I never struggle with wanting to smoke pot at all. Pot lead me in a lot of bad directions, seemed like exacerbated my eating disorder and I would (back then, not now) binge and purge.

Yep, no thanks, miss me with the pot

I smoked really strong weed, what we call “skunk” in the UK. I had a very real paychotic episode, that convinced me that the world wanted to die. Looking back on it now i see how ridiculous it is, but it felt so real at the time and left me with really bad panic attacks. It could well have been ptsd, but i was never diagnosed.

Marijuana today is not the same marijuana in the past. Or so i have heard. There is a lot of concentrates and potent marijuana sold all around. I would not be surprised if studies cannot keep up with finding the dangerous in the concentrates. But we are seeing higher rates of psychosis and addiction these days so it makes u wonder if there’s a correlation there.
