Heartbreaking news this morning
Drowned supposedly.
Sad
This is from an unknown to me news source.
However, I was just reading it when I saw this post.
In the article he talks a lot about battling addictions.
RIP Matthew Perry
“While he knows that Friends fans will read it, he said he really wrote it for addicts and hopes that it is eventually housed in the self-help section of book stores and library. He also wants the general public to read it “to realize how hard it was to quit and not be judgmental for people who are using. Because it is really, really hard…” He said the book “is not an ego journey or anything like that. It’s the cold, hard truth about being an addict. Who made it. Who has to make it every day. The work you have to put in every day to save yourself from this monster that lives in your brain is a baffling thing to live with.”
I decided not to post the link because there’s too much talk about drug use in there.
It’s partly from a late 2022 interview with Diane Sawyer, and one with GQ magazine, ( yahoo entertainment) about a book that he has written.
Here’s a 2022, updated June 2023 New York Times article about his book. It doesn’t have as much about specific drug use as the other article.
“Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing” is the name of the memoir.
The first article in the news I read this morning, it makes me sad. I’ve read his book a month ore two ago. When I read it I was so glad I was sober! The same feeling hit me this morning when I read this sad news. So glad I could turn my life around for the better cause otherwise this is how it ends.
I hope he will rest in peace, I will light a candle for him
Rest in peace addiction is such a horrible monster to fight but fight we must. God bless him
Far too young to pass. In his last few Instagram posts he had been acting a bit strange, like he was back using.
Regardless of that…so sad for his family to go through this.
It is really sad. I never put too much thought into these stories, until I really started trying to get sober, and learning about addiction from counselors and therapist. Anymore it just affects me harder, when I see people that were really trying lose the battle. RIP
Fuck fuck fuck. Matthew you will be so missed. You were the best one.
Yes he will be missed.
So sad.
I read his book when it first came out.
Sad tragic but informative story about him and his addictions. I liked it a lot.
RIP my friend.
God Bless you Matthew, rest in peace you’re the reason I decided to come back to this forum today. I knew I was struggling and needed a friend .
Also, it’s said possibly to be unrelated to his addiction. He reportedly just finished a 2 hour pickleball game and was in the hot tub.
Just goes to show our time is short. Keep your loved ones close and let them know as often as you can that you love them.
It doesn’t matter if his passing was related to his addictions or not, we won’t know that for awhile, if they release a toxicology report at all. What he means to me, besides being Chandler, is his book was written to help others. I wish I read it sooner, but I will read it now. R.I.P
Yeah I’m sure the years and years of abuse didn’t leave his body weakened before its time.
Such a sad news
R.I.P, we won’t forget your struggle and what you’ve done and accomplished
Not sure why you chose to comment this. Seems irrelevant.
Did you know him? What are you sure about?
The media has a way of painting addicts in a certain way. As if the first thing that could have happened is a relapse of something related to addiction. Any celebrity, or human for that matter, who has courage to use their platform to speak out on addiction is a hero in my book.
Chandler bing.
Matthew perry.
Its a sad time for me.
…Enough said.
Day 210
They don’t know that yet. All they said was that drugs were not found at the scene. Absolutely we should not be making any assumptions at this time but even if he was still clean his body was surely damaged from decades of abuse.
Still other celebrities that I was sure were ne et users have died from overdoses in the past. It’s not an unreasonable thought when someone dies so young and so suddenly
May Matthew rest in piece. I will always remember him laughing and making other people laugh. I’ll miss his sarcasm.
