I relate 100 percent. My step dad was always in the garage twisting on wrenches. He like to buy cars, boats, pretty much anything and fix them up and sell them. Everyone else thought it would be a good idea for me to help him. A bonding experience.
It was the opposite, my dislike for him grew with every moment I was forced to spend with him. That dislike still applies to twisting wrenches.
I liked fishing when I was a kid. I just didn’t like fishing with him. Being stuck in a boat with him all day wasn’t fun. Fortunately we didn’t do it enough to ruin fishing for me. I found my true love for fishing all by myself when I was an adult. I havent been able to find a love for twisting wrenches.
