Ahhhh boundaries :hugs: my god has learning boundaries saved my live and my sobriety!! People get so used to you just rolling over for them and once they have you the right shape for THIER life they HATE it when you want a better more fitting life for you so you start having boundaries. My in laws hate me right now I should imagine lol. Not only that I think it’s taking the husband some getting used to :face_with_hand_over_mouth: if it doesn’t work for me and my journey then I’m not bloody doing it! Thanks for this Courtney :pray:t2::two_hearts:

Sorry, if it doesn’t fit in here. I am just watching a movie from Ferdinand von Schirach, a famous German writer. The topics of his books are about ethical decisions. Really interesting stuff I think. Like one of his books was filmed and was about a army guy who shot a plane with a terrorist aiming to crash into the Munich football stadium. So the question was if the death of 300 people is worth saving 20.000. Or imagine a train heading to kill 3 people you are close to but you can change this but then a whole village is hit.

Ah, like Sophie’s Choice.

Interesting. I have to watch this.

The novel by William Styron is intense and brutal. The movie stars Meryl Streep…so there is that. But the book presents the nuance and conflict as only books can.

Now it is about help for suicide that is discussed in front of the ethical commission. People watching are now asked to vote online and the results are discussed in some minutes. Maybe for me it is no question as my father committed suicide when I was 5.

So very sorry about your father, my sympathies. Suicide holds so much stigma and pain for everyone involved. My first husband killed himself 30 years ago.

Well, it is some years ago. It surely influenced everyone in my family but I don’t judge his decision. He was free to do this. I think we cannot force people to live.
The people voted 70 % for assisted suicide.
