I want to help with my daughters father’s mental health so he can get better.
But I really feel like it is to the detriment of my mental health and the mental health of at least 2 others who i love dearly.
I hate that this is the position im in.
Feel like my life is destined to be hard, and my feeling better over these last 6 months wasn’t allowed by the universe so I’m getting an extra dose of hard.

I am so sorry my friend - you indeed have been dealt an extra doze of hard. I am amazed at how you are dealing with it and yes, you do need to worry about your and your kids health above all else. Sending you love – it seems like forever but I do believe that you are due for some relief.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with making your mental health a priority. The old saying applies here… you have to put your own oxygen mask on first. You’ve got a lot on your plate getting you and your kids through this storm, don’t take on someone else’s sickness. And do not feel guilty that you have no more to give. Your thoughts are like moving cars on a road… let me try to explain…

What you need to do is learn to sit back on the side of the road and simply observe the cars/thoughts as they go by, checking in on them, perhaps watching one or two in particular as they pass, but just watch. What we tend to do instead is try to run into the road, or try to stop or chase down a certain car, or follow it for miles until we are exhausted. But what happens when you run into a road? Nothing good, right?

So every time you find yourself running around after a certain thought in your mind, or hyper focussing on one negative thing, try to pull back to that space on the side of the road. Find that place of observation and find your breath :sparkles:
