What do you guys think of Panopticon? He’s black metal, right? I get mixed up on what’s black and what’s “blackened” and whats something else altogether. I like the mix of bluegrass, whatever it is.
I remember seeing the name around years ago but never gave it a go. Ill have to have a listen, sounds interesting

Just listened to Autumn Eternal. Id say its black metal but definately on the ‘nicer’ more melodic side of things. When I read ‘blackened whatever’ I tend to avoid

Thanks. I’ll have to check them out. I generally keep away from black (more of a doom/death guy, I guess), but then again, I haven’t really actively looked for good black metal.
Oh yeah, huge doom/death fan here too. Along with black metal and just general classic stuff. What doom/death bands are you into?
I never used to like clean vocals, but lately I’ve been really getting into khemmis, pallbearer, and windhand. For death, I liked the new Tomb Mold and Witch Vomit a lot, but I’ve been stuck on the new Blood Incantation ever since that came out. So much good new metal…
That new Blood Incantation is killer for sure. Im not that familiar with those other bands (I have heard and like tomb mold and Pallbearer tho). Im a real nerd when it comes to this stuff so always up for new recommendations. Keep posting in the thread
Doom wise I tend to lean more towards the older stuff like Candlemass, Saint Vitus, Burning Witch etc. And death pretty much anything as long as it isn’t ‘technical’ (cant stand those bands) but recently Teitanblood, Autopsy, Cianide, Incantation. And then there’s a whole heap of bands that do a mix of all the styles and dont really fit anywhere. I could go on and on but ill stop myself
I just can’t get over how much is out there. I always thought I was into metal, but that was like Slayer and Megadeath. I still enjoy that but I still can’t wrap my head around just how much is out there to work through. It’s so awesome. Thanks for the recommendations. Big fan of candlemass but I’ll.need to check out the others.
