Anyone else here on methadone? Been on it for about 43 days and been clean the whole time. Anyone else here have success with it?

Great job on 43 days man. I also had a few bouts with heroin. I got clean with the clinic like 10 years ago. How I did it was first and foremost, I finally stopped using dope. So I was only on methadone. After like 3 months of that, I started detoxing myself.
I was on 90 mg a day maintenance. I told myself I would get down to 50 mg. to start. I went down 2 mg. a day for a couple weeks and made it to 50. I felt fine! So then I went down 1 mg. a day for a while. Sometimes 2. Next thing I knew I was down to 20 mg. a day. I remember I started to feel a little off around there so I stayed there for a few weeks.
It took me like 5 or 6 months but I stayed clean with and eventually quit methadone. It works man. You can attest to that. I’m glad you’re clean bro.

I just read both of these comments and its great advice… im 18 days clean off heroin and on 40mg of methadone… i want to start coming down off it slowly and so frightened of getting poorly… reading these comments have really helped… Thank you x
Hi!!! I’m 8 years sober thanks to methadone. I started to taper a few years ago but have since stopped due to debilitating back and hip pain. If it works for you that’s all that matters. Everyone’s road to recovery is different. All that matters is that you are living a good, sober life.
