Please please please keep talking on here Maggie, whenever u need to…if u feel like ur in danger of picking up especially… come here first so we can help you, you are a wonderful lady and u deserve sobriety but u do not have to do it alone, im absolutely rooting for u xxx
Keep us updated.
Remember self will and determination isn’t enough for most of us. You have to determine what will be different this time. Adding more tools to your toolbox is a start but going about things the same way is a recipe for failure. Trust me, I slipped more than I care to admit. All it takes is success today.
Best of luck! We are all routing for you!
I’m sure, like myself, many are curious what you will be doing different this time. I think it’s helpful to hear from folks what has worked and what hasn’t along their journey
Ive always struggled with the toolbox thing ,but in my plans this time is stay out of all the shops i bought from ,go to a meeting, keep a daily diary that and my determination that i dont want to keep doing this ,and call talk to someone when im thinking about sneaking a drink which will happen ,get up early get a good routine going try and set out plans for the day to keep me occupied, does anyone have any other suggestions
This is very good! An hour you know you will be sober. Also, if you stick with it you will get to know the people, they will want you to succeed! It also adds another level of accountability. You can talk openly about the thoughts you write in your journal.
Another solid tool. Writing about why you want to be sober, why or what made the day difficult and what you did to get through it.
I like where you are heading with this! This could be a journal entry, and if something goes wrong and a slip happens you can look at what you wrote and see which thing(s) in your plan you did not follow through with. Ask yourself how bad you want it and what lengths are you willing to go to to achieve it!!! Trust me it’s possible!
I know how bad I got and if I can do it, you certainly can!!!
Keep up the good fight Macy
Also, I wouldn’t even look at the store when I first started!!! I would drive a different route or literally look the other way. Call someone if the thought pops into your head!! Because once it’s rattling around your head, it’s too late… I know what that voice can do, for me if it popped in it was all over
Yay! What resources are you using and what changes are being made? Getting sober is about so much more than stopping drinking
Sending some love and good vibes your way Maggie, hope your ok xxx
Ive been sober for over 3 years and kept a journal, even most days i was drinking.
Reading them helped me to realise i needed to get and stay sober, so i think your diary idea is good. Actually all the ideas are good lol
When faced with a sudden intense craving (happens)
Then try…delay…distract…decide
Wait, b4 buying or drinking, distract yourself by doing something (clean the oven) then afterwards decide if u still crave. Mostly the cravings will have dissappeared by then
All the best
