It’s difficult, yeah. Over the almost past year of sobriety I’ve had to realize I can only work on myself and no one else. They’ll have to recognize a change in me or maybe they too have their own changes going on. Such is life.

Making amends takes time. Building up trust again takes time, reliable sobriety, recovery work and doing the next right thing. Some relationships will be renewed on the ODAAT of living recovery and putting in the daily work. Some not. New people will enter your life when the time is there. Just keep going, stay sober and work on your recovery, healing and toolbox to cope with life in healthy ways.

You aren’t alone. Some friendships are lost due to our addiction and some cause of our sobriety (those who only stuck around for a good time).

There is no guarantee that our friendships lost will repair or rekindle. The best we can do is stay sober and let out actions show how we have changed. This can be a long process as our loved ones have been hurt by us and our addiction. Keep working on you without any expectations from others.
