NA in the Hawkes Bay

I’ve been clean from meth for 177 days now. Feeling really good about life and the New Year ahead. Wanting to attend Narcotics Anonymous either in Hastings or Napier. Anyone familiar with either or both. I’m unsure where to start

Do yo mean New Zealand?
I’m not familiar with NA…
I do AA because one leads me to the other. I never use unless I drink.

Morning. Narcotics Anonymous. Same principles as AA. A friend of mine in Hamilton said I would benefit from attending and meet some awesome people. I left Hamilton to start afresh and I’ve moved to the Hawkes Bay so was wondering if anyone else herein forum attended

I interned at a drug/rehab facility for minors and while they went to both AA and NA, the days I worked we only went to NA. Very similar program to AA but most of the people attending their doc is not alcohol. They also introduce themselves as an addict versus an alcoholic, and people who use may find more common ground with others discussing similar doc’s.

Now that I’m in AA, I’ve heard several people who admit to using and drinking or even just using - but saying they prefer AA. Not really sure why.

Thankyou for that. My friend who advised me to attend did say AA was just as beneficial as any NA would be for me. Im open to either. Keen to meet new people on the same journey of sobriety. Not all but some people can be a little bit judgmental when they do realize im a recovering addict

@Elisabeth Some people prefer AA over NA because there is more lengths of sobriety instead of constant relapse. I think it’s a good idea to check out both to find what suits you.
