Hi I wanted to know if anyone has used Naltrexone or anti abuse? I had campral before and it really helped with my cravings. Apparently anti abuse is crazy through you cant even use hand sanitizer? My mum tried naltrexone and i think it worked for her, she went to a bottle or 2 a day or red wine to now living a sober life but maybe thats to do with her move to a remote farm.

I don’t have experience myself but I’m bumping this thread up - maybe someone else has some ideas.
Sometimes it’s spelled “Antabuse” - if you search here with that spelling you’ll find a lot of threads of people sharing their experiences.

I take both Naltrexone and Campril together and have found them very effective! The Naltrexone acts on the reward centre for alcohol so takes away the feel good sensation and Campril works on rhe GABA receptors to curb cravings.

Naltrexone was pretty rough for me. I did post about my experience with it a few years back. I felt pretty sick for the first week or two, then felt extremely flat for the weeks following. I didn’t feel like drinking, or doing anything really.
I eventually stopped using it. But it works for some, everyone is different.
