Need encouragment

I had 4 years clean off meth and other substances. But this here recently I find myself going a few weeks or a month and then usually running into someone I know and relapsing. I had a relapse in March when someone close to me got out of prison. It lasted only a day and i did inpatient and did ok. But then went to sleep at my exs here last month and in the middle of my bday he said you wanna get high. And smart me was like sure. Knowing my conscience the whole time was like noooo. Now its been weeks and ive completely fallen off the sober horse. I need some encouragment. I go to talk to my doctor this week. And I come from a very unsupportive family about relapse. They dont believe in relapsing. I know im strong but the mental and physical aspect of it is hard. I also have a condition which makes me sleep all the time.

Well, you had 4 years clean so you know you can do it. You know that the people you surround yourself with contributed to your relapse. Get rid of the people who don’t want to help you achieve your goal of being clean. You deserve a sober, happy, healthy life. Best wishes

What was different in those 4 years to now? I’m sure you ran into old friends and managed to be strong then, so what changed? Sometimes it is hard to keep the strong motivation of early sobriety after a long time. Maybe go back to basics? We are rooting for you here. :purple_heart:

The first year i was in a 14 month sheltered program. Then the second year and a half was transitional. I did good the first year out of there. But met a guy who is really verbally abusive. Quit meetings and just slowly returned to using here and there.

Sounds like getting to meetings again would be a good place to start. They really do help people stay focused on recovery. And like Dan said, be selective about the people you hang out with.
