Hello :waving_hand: congrats on 4 days sober! I am 35 as well and started when i was 20. Longest i went was 8 months sober. Good on you for making it 2 years! May i ask, what did you find helped you the most last time you went sober? Perhaps reestablishing that environment/habits can help

Hey Jon! Great job on 4 days sober! I hear u about feeling lonely in recovery. As @Ray_M_C_Laren mentioned, meetings are a great way to meet sober people! They have online meetings also if that would suit u better. Might be something to consider  You are not alone!

Hey Jon! Welcome to Talking Sober! I hear you on how sobriety can be lonely and boring. I’m proud of you for recognizing the problem and deciding to seek sobriety. Congrats on your 4 days, that’s amazing

Glad to see you reaching out. Engaging with the many active threads helped me build relationships within the community.

Congrats on 4 days sober. That first week is hellish. Keep your head focused on just getting to bed sober. Distraction was key for me in early days. Walks. Loud music. Paint by numbers. Aa meetings helped

Congrats on 4 days! That’s quite the accomplishment. I used to have to go to jail before i’d stop. then i’d just get out relapse and go right back in.

if i may make a suggestion, AA meetings are full of people just like you who are trying to do the same thing you are: stop drinking and stay stopped. the support ive gotten from the meetings i go have been vital to my recovery, and you aren’t alone in your journey and you don’t have to be by yourself. by showing up to meetings you are supporting your own recovery but also supporting everyone else who go to the same meeting. if you prefer there are zoom meetings as well, just google it.

what prompted you to stop drinking this time, if you don’t mind me asking?

Just getting away from bad influences I’m going shopping tomorrow and I’m temped to have a drink

Twice , I find this site more helpful

I’m just going to be honest with you @Stretcha, I hope you don’t get offended.

Jon, if you know how to stop drinking, why do you keep drinking if you say that you want to quit? If you could do it on your own, without help, don’t you think you would have done it by now?

I think you, like myself, need help from others. There’s help in 12 step meetings with people who know how to do what you are trying to do, But if you lack the willingness, then no one can help you because you think you know what you’re doing. But you haven’t been able to do it. People in recovery often say ‘if nothing changes, nothing changes.’ I hope your way works for you, I know my way didn’t, and I didn’t want to go to meetings either. Eventually I gave up and started going regularly, and I was able to stay clean/sober finally.

Nice Yh I will stop moaning and feel like I’m missing out now don’t worry I got this

if you ever need to vent or feel like you’re wanting to drink you can message me on here or if you want you can have my number to call I’m here for you if you need anything my friend

i hope you do got this :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:
