New here SOS

Hi I’m new here. I’ve never really done anything hard per se. But I was using powdered Kratom for four years. Well I finally went and told my psychiatrist and she started me on suboxone. I hate the way it makes me feel and I really just want to cold turkey it… I’ve only been on them for a week and three days now and I’ve only been taking 1mg once a day or even cutting it down to 0.5mg a day… I can’t help but still take them as I feel angry and irritable all day and I’ve become LAZY! I cannot for the life of me get myself to get off my couch and I literally hate the person I have become… I just want to be off it all and go back to being the woman I used to be.

Look up PAWS - Post Acute Withdrawal Syndrome. A lot of what you described sounds like it could be at least partially attributed to PAWS. It takes some time to get through that part but it does improve.

Hi there. Keep on the good path. Today I quit marijuana , gambling and alcohol. The 3 have put me into too much debt that I am almost tapped out. I don’t want to be homeless or hit rock bottom, although I feel very close. Just remember, we all are going through struggles. Stay strong and stay sober. One day at a time.

I’m proud of you!! You can do it. I used to be an alcoholic for years I’m five years sober. You got this it’s so hard I know.

I want to welcome you to Talking Sober and encourage you. You’ll get there… but for me, it helps more if I’m patient with myself. I give myself lots of grace and mercy, and I don’t expect perfection from myself or others. I believe you’ll get where you want to go. I would listen to my doc though, because opiate withdrawal (if you’ve never done it before) can get pretty… ugly.

You body is also going through a big change - it probably wants to rest.

Hang in there my friend, you’ll get through this! Good job on wanting to quit, that’s something to be proud of.

Thank you ! To you as well. It’s nice to know we are not in this alone. I think I never was able to quit because of trying to do it alone. And the gambling just kept going on in secret. I kept lying to people I care about. And I hate lying.

How is life treating you? Hope your weekend is wonderful
