New here. This is my story

Hey, I’m new here. About to hit day 19 of sobriety. I’ve been addicted to opioids since 2009. Started due to a work accident, instead of giving me other options the Dr put me on loratabs. 120 a month. Switched Dr multiple times but it was always the same thing. At my worst I was popping 40 a day. Just hit my 48 birthday and decided I was done. Flushed them all down the toilet! Big mistake!!! I ended up in the ER cause the withdrawals were so bad.

But I refused to give up..

Everyday gets a little better.

Good work. I don’t know too much about opioids but welcome to TS. Plenty of people from all over have found it helpful. I hope it can help you too bro

Similar story for me, starting with an injury, but I had experimented and liked opiates before my 1st RX

Hello! Thank you.

The withdrawal part was rough, but I was willing to go through it to have my life back. Every day I feel a little better, I have cravings, but they don’t last long. I’m just taking it day by day.

Thats awesome! And thats all we can do… take it day by day. If we stay clean and sober, we will never have to go thru the withdrawls again!

Well, I have an amazing support system to keep me focused.

But I’m determined to not use again. If I get cravings I’ll usually just hit the gym and workout or swim. I found this app from a woman in my support group and figured I’d try it out. Everyone’s been great. I think this will also help because there’s so many people out there that can relate to my situation.

Welcome Jason, to Talking Sober! Now that you are out from under the worst of the dope sickness, you have made a good decision to come here. There are plenty of suggestions on ways to grow your sobriety, and most of them have to do with connection. Connection to a group, a higher power, a community, to your own spirit and soul.

I got sober using medication (Antabuse for my alcoholism), counseling both individual and group, AA, and some radical accountability (the legal system has a way of keeping you sober!). There are plenty of suggestions here. Maybe you can start with one or two of these topics. Blessings on your house  as you begin your journey.
