New, Just Saying Hi

I’ve been lurking around the forum for almost a year, perusing all your posts. I’m not a very social creature, but recently I’ve been thinking that my self-imposed isolation may not be very healthy. At first it was necessary… To cut off all contact with anyone that ‘triggered’ me. But almost a year with no social contact outside my immediate family members is probably not good. Lol.

Anyway, I’ve been sober from meth for 260-ish days, sober from heroin for just a little longer than that.

Actually, I was mistaken… It’s 299 days. :flushed: I got clean because my mom was put on dialysis and I wanted to be… HAD to be physically and mentally healthy to be able to take care of her. I guess I realized that I love her more than I used to love getting high.

Thanks for the welcome

 Hang in there… What are you getting clean from? If you don’t mind me asking.

I did mention it in a reply to Nat, but it feels like such an oversimplification… I was using off and on, the type of drugs increasing in severity and amount, for over 10 years. My mom being put on dialysis was the catalyst, but there were so many other things that contributed to me getting and staying sober, you know?

I will  I really need the social contact, it’s been almost a year since I’ve really sought out a social support group like this.

Drugs can make people really selfish so massive kudos to you for stopping and being there for your mum.

Thanks… Yeah you know, now that I’ve become a more decent human being, I’m appalled at the memory of who I was. I was a horrible person. I don’t ever want to be her again.
