Thinking of getting a very small tattoo somewhere visible of something that will remind me to stay sober… anyone have recovery tattoos or ideas?

I’m a big fan of getting important song lyrics tattooed on me. I plan to get “I won’t let you fall apart” from The Fragile by NIN on my arm. It’ll be a reminder to put my health (mental and physical) first, make good decisions, and better myself.

You said small…so are you looking for a like a symbol? Another plan I have is to get the Norse rune for strength on me. Of course these are just things that I like. Are there any other cultures (ancient or active) that resonate with you?

Hmmmm so many ideas and options I suppose it depends on what you like! What things are important to you that you might be able to use as symbolism? Ocean? Faith or religion? Music? What calls to you and makes you happy ?

Something really small @Steve92,
You could get a semi colon. It’s a movement, that symbolizes struggle with mental illness and addiction along with a few other things similar. Pretty cool!

@Alex2 yes! The semicolon! I recently asked my best friend if she would want to go get semicolon tattoos together as we have both struggled with mental health.

@Elisabeth yes! That picture is the best. It would make a great chest piece! :joy:

I have an arrow with a semicolon in it to represent the parts in life where we have to be pulled backwards in order to shoot forward. Semicolon is because my story ISN’T over yet. I’ve struggled with anxiety and depression and alcohol and suicidal ideation. So I thought to put the semicolon in the arrow

My friend has one that says Serenity as a reminder (of the serenity prayer). That’s what I want for myself!

Oh wow Steve! My daughter is in the Milatary and is doing so well. We just Face talked earlier! Gratefully, she is In her 8th year and 3rd tatoo!!! Ahhhh a mom says! However she just got it Monday and sent me the pic as we were talking.
She chose a piranha! We all know they are a dangerous fish and will devouer anything when it is hungry. Yet, at times it swims mindlessly, unbothered… until it’s hungry again. She also had the most simple beautiful flower placed at its mouth’s opening! The artist did an outstanding work of art in the detail and it suits my daughter for where she placed it.
I am not a fan of tatoo’s… but… my adult children are not a fan of bingo. We love each other in the end!
If it makes you feel inflated- go for it.
If it makes you feel deflated- think harder about it!

This may sound weird but i can vividly remember some of the holuicinations i had when i was detoxing my last time. These spiderlike orbs were comming towards me and it was some scary stuff. I feel like that would be a stark reminder of why i cant drink anymore and also a dark backstory… what do u guys think. or is that just messed up hah

I have Mumford and Sons lyrics on my foot from the first time I got sober. It says “Keep the earth below my feet” a reminder to stay grounded and humble

If I ever got a tattoo, maybe a version of my icon - Cygnus the Swan, it’s a reference to an old Rush song where Apollo and Dionysus were battling for the heart vs. the mind, and a new god was created to bring balance - “Cygnus”. It sounds a bit cheesy now, but as a geeky teen I would eat that stuff up! :guitar:

Say whaaaa? What video game?

Fusion Trail’s
It’s stupid hard.

Lol, stupid hard games are the worst. Right now I’m obsessed with skyrim and the new Zelda game. I could seriously play all day and feel like I’ve hardly made a dent in the game play. Gah, what am I doing on here? I’m losing precious video game time!

Funny Elasbeth! I saw that thread!
