No More Added Sugar

Good for you.
It’s better than caving in to booze. And you nailed 5 days without it. And you had a great sober day.
Good for you.

Day 2 without sugar! I do have Keto snacks and I am allowing dark chocolate. But that’s IT!

Don’t these sugar free chocolates and cookies make you all crave the ’real’ ones? I’m a bit afraid to try them. Just like alcohol free beer – I don’t dare to drink that although I have been sober for more than one and a half years now, but I’m still afraid it would be a very strong trigger. Is it different with sweets for you?

I think Reese’s is/was my first fave.
Unless there’s Mallow Cups.
They’re hard to find. Like a peanut butter cup but with marshmallow and coconut :yum:

It doesn’t make me want the real thing. Although I do binge on these items. :grimacing: That’s my biggest problem. But when they’re gone I don’t buy them again for awhile. I generally start off not binging. But after having them in the house a bit my addict mind takes over. But they taste as good as the real thing. So that’s not an issue for me at least.

I finally got around to trying non alcoholic beer and wine with my son last fall. It wasn’t bad. And like you I’ve always been afraid to try it. It was ok. I didn’t feel like I wanted the real thing. But I didn’t want to drink a bunch of gassy beer. The stuff they’re doing these days don’t taste to bad. But I’m staying away from it. I like my sparkling. And some creative mocktails once and awhile.

I HATE marshmallow and am not a fan of coconut so I’d pass on that. My favorite is a crunch bar. It’s simple but it was my moms favorite and I think it’s the memories of eating it with her that make it my favorite. I wonder if the Russell people make something similar

Not for me. I’m not huge on chocolate but when I get around that time of the month I want all the chocolate so these will be helpful soon. I’m a calorie watcher so I put my 2 out and call it a day. Heck I don’t even go for them most days but they are nice when the hubs is eating his cookies and junk that are full of processed things. I bet for some like Eric it’s binge worthy

Yes, TOTALLY binge worthy.

I am going to an OA meeting with my sponsee on Tuesday… a bit strange maybe seeing as I have anorexia? I don’t know, all I know is I need fucking help!
:unamused:

Day 24
My aunt doesn’t do sugar and got excited to make me her sugar free breakfast cookies this morning with oats, rhubarb, & strawberries

That sounds delicious!

I would be interested in this type of cookie. I am a fan of cookies myself - made a batch today actually - but I find they tend to spike my blood sugars (I have type 1 diabetes). I take insulin but still I find the cookies have an unpredictable effect on my blood sugar for the day, I suspect because of the rush of refined sugar.

I took a quick look just now and found something that sounds like what you’re sharing here - is this in the ballpark of what your aunt makes?

I actually just found out recently that my mum is prediabetic and a lot of our family struggles with diabetes. It definitely makes me feel more inclined to try to keep sugar out of my own diet.

That recipe looks similar to what my aunt made yah! Maybe even less ingredients. Hers seem very simple and definitely don’t look as neat and uniform as the ones in that recipe. I’ll have to ask her for her specific recipe now because I’m curious.

^^ this is what they looked like
I tried quick to find a recipe that looked closer and ended up finding a different one that I might try to make myself. I like the looks of all the seeds in this one
